Welcome to Darrell's Genealogy Stories
Hello Everyone,
Most of you know that I have been involved in family genealogy research for more than 10 years. It has been a wonderful journey, I have learned so much, and it will only continue as more and more information becomes available. I've chosen to focus this blog on the Coppock genealogy.
Now, before you hit the Delete Button, thinking that you are going to learn names, dates, and other meaningless trivia, hang on! This site is named "Darrell's Genealogy Stories" for a reason. It is my belief that most of you will not only enjoy some of the stories and tales that I recall; but it will also provide a personal glimpse in to the lives of the ancestors you will never personally know.
You have already received an email from me that invited you to this blog site. If so, you are a direct ancestor of Arnold J Coppock. Why did I start with Arnold and not my father Clyde? It's because Arnold (and Ethel) had 3 grandchildren with the Coppock surname: Darrell Ashton, Janice Kay, and Connie Colleen. If you are reading this, you are a direct descendant of one of the three.
My intent is to publish a blog twice a month, plus a "bonus" one to commemorate a memorable date or special occasion (Christmas, an anniversary, etc.). Each blog will be a story or a narrative that will revolve around a specific event or subject. In the next paragraph, I will give you a brief "teaser" of what will be the topic of my first blog.
Thanks to my cousin Connie Coppock Dutka, who did a wonderful job of re-typing written notes by my Grandma Ethel, I'm going to relate a very funny and almost-tragic tale of their wedding day in the summer of 1914. I think you'll find it both amazing and amusing. Stay tuned!
You all have my personal email from the blog invitation that was sent. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, comments, corrections, etc. Also, if any of you have an idea for a story, let me know. I'd love to hear it, and know that I'll be anxious to share it in blog form.
Until then, thanks for coming along with on this family journey.
Love Always,
D
